Jim Reisert: Ham Radio | Links & Reflectors |
In the early days of the World Wide Web, everyone's "claim to fame" was a web page which was nothing more than a series of links to other web pages. After a while, so many people had these pages of links that the excitement was gone. This very page used to be such a list, but time has distributed the information out into the Internet into a number of better places.
Therefore, this page is a shell of its former self. Rather than providing individual links, I'll just point to other web sites where the information can probably be found.
E-mail reflectors are a way of "broadcasting" a message to a group of subscribers for the purpose of enjoining a discussion on a topic that is relevant to the particular reflector. Three sites in particular run quite a collection of different discussion groups:
In addition, there are a few reflectors out there specifically dedicated to discussions about DXing:
NOTE: a listing here is not an endorsement. I use DX4WIN as my everyday logging software, and either CT or WriteLog in contests.
Pathfinder is an excellent tool with links to many sites. It can be run as a Microsoft Windows application or run from its own web site. The Radio Amateur Callbook ("Flying Horse") is still the standard when it comes to looking up addresses for DX stations, but QRZ and Buckmaster are rapidly closing the gap. QRZ is also known for its large amateur radio software repository. The Golist QSL Manager List has been a standard for years.
NOTE: a listing here is not an endorsement. I use ICOM and Ameritron equipment at home, and my only commercial antenna is a Hy-Gain AV-640 multi-band vertical.
eHam.net is one of the best sites around. Not only does it have a huge collection of links, but it has DX spots from around the world, discussion forums, articles, classifieds and much more.
AC6V's Amateur Radio and DX Reference Guide contains a huge number of links - check it out.
If you can't find what you are looking for at one of these sites, it just isn't there!
